Geneva Christian Education Program:

Teachers from S. Korea Visit Christian Schools in Iowa [Was KACEP]

Teachers Come To:

  • Observe established Christian day schools in operation
  • Better understand the theory of Christian education from a Reformed perspective
  • Learn teaching methods and practical ideas that can be used in the Christian schools of South Korea and mission fields around the world
  • Experience the Christian communities that support Christian schools
  • Build international relationships between Christian educators

What We Do:

In the last few years, several new Christian day schools have been started in South Korea. Rev. Jung Ho Suh of South Korea, a Ph.D. student in Education at the University of Iowa and Director of the program, has a vision for helping these schools learn to better integrate the Christian faith into their daily classroom instruction. To that end Geneva Campus Ministry established a partnership with Pella Christian Grade School and Pella Christian High School. Teachers from South Korea come to observe at the schools for three weeks in January, during their winter break, and stay as guests at the homes of host families in Pella. In 2006, four teachers came, and in 2007, three teachers; each year a Korean young adult also served as a translator.

In the future we hope to increase the number of visiting teachers, expand the program to other Christian schools in the U.S., include Korean missionaries from various parts of the world, and assist Korean teachers through conferences and other means.
