READing Group:
Weekly Book Discussion for Faculty, Staff, and Grad/Professional Students
Join Us To:
- Broaden and deepen your understanding of the Christian faith, of contemporary culture, and of the relationship between the two
- Enjoy stimulating discussion with people from diverse fields of study and practice
- Connect with fellow Christians from a variety of backgrounds in an informal, supportive community of faith
Who We Are:
Currently the group consists of 7 active members from a variety of fields. We are all faculty or staff and desire more grad/professional student members!
What We Do:
We gather every Wednesday from 12:00-1:15 during the fall and spring semesters, in River Room #3 by the River Room Café. Members usually buy lunch at the Café or bring a sack lunch. Each week we discuss a previously read chapter of a book, with one of the members leading the discussion. In the fall of 2006 we read, More Than Words: Contemporary Writers on the Works That Shaped Them, edited by James Schaap, and in the spring of 2007 we read, The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Faith, by Francis Collins, head of the Human Genome Project.
How You Can Get Involved:
Contact Ed Laarman to confirm meeting plans, then come check us out! Ed will send weekly email notices to those who are interested.
